NEGOTIATIONS - SEMESTER ONE 2023

WHAT IS NEGOTIATIONS?

Negotiation has become an increasingly popular form of Alternative Dispute Resolution in practice today. The Negotiations competition is a method for students to identify themselves with this emerging area.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Negotiations competition is a simulated negotiation between two teams of lawyers, each representing a party to the legal dispute. The objective of each teams is to reach an arrangement that satisfies their clients desired outcome. The teams should ensure their decisions are directed towards satisfying their clients instructions without making any unnecessary concessions.

 

An expert knowledge of the law is not required for this competition due to the focused goals of each client.

 

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

The competition is specifically designed to help students learn important skills in negotiating and communication.

 

WHO CAN APPLY?

Any student enrolled in a Law Degree at the University of Notre Dame Australia. Students should ideally apply in pairs; however, if you do not have a partner one can be found for you.
