The Student Experience portfolio is comprised of the Student Welfare Representative, the Incoming Student Representative and the Final Year Representative. This portfolio is responsible for providing information, support and assistance to all law students throughout their studies at Notre Dame. Our Student Experience representatives work closely together to host events for students.
Student Welfare Representative
The Student Welfare Representative works for all students in different age groups and mature age students. This role was created in 2022 which amalgamated the positions of 'Second Year Representative', 'Third Year Representative' and 'Mature Age Representative', and ensures that these students have events, opportunities and experiences provided for them.
The Law Access Walk for Justice is a fundraising event that is supported by the NDLSS every year. In 2025 to fundraise for this event, a sausage sizzle was run along with 'Headshots for Students', that charged students $15 per person to have their professional headshot taken against the backdrop of the university campus.
Other exciting fundraising events that promote healthy mental health initiatives will be later released throughout the year, so keep a close look-out!

Incoming Student Representative
The position of Incoming Student Representative is to support law students entering their first year of studying law. This includes ensuring the first year law students have access to the services they require within the university, as well as ensuring the students are given the proper guidance to progress their individual endeavours. The Incoming Representative looks after the first year law students from the beginning of Orientation Day (O-Day), to organising cohort social events throughout the year. A 'First Year Guide' is distributed to each student on O-Day of each semester. To greater facilitate support, the NDLSS also offers students who are in their third, penultimate or final years of law study to become a 'mentor' for first year students.
The 'First Year Guide' can be found here

Final Year Representative
The Final Year Representative's main role within NDLSS is to support the other committee members with their events, as well as host and organise the end of year Final Year Dinner. This is always an exciting social event for final year students to look forward to, in celebration of their time and hard-work spent at Notre Dame law school. The Final Year Representative is also responsible for organising the elections for the NDLSS in Semester 2.
